Interference
This black and white photo series uses a projector to cast abstract, high-contrast patterns across human figures and everyday objects, distorting their forms and obscuring their identities. Inspired by the bold, fragmented designs of World War I dazzle camouflage—used not to hide ships, but to confuse enemy rangefinders and disrupt the perception of shape, direction, and speed—the series explores how visual interference can alter recognition and meaning. Each of the ten images plays with depth, light, and line to fragment the familiar, creating a sense of motion and misdirection even in stillness. By cloaking the human form in confusion, the work invites viewers to question what is seen, what is hidden, and how perception itself can be manipulated.
